SMOKE TESTING SEWER LINES

The City of Lawrenceville is conducting a smoke test of its sanitary sewer system in the Lincoln Heights Addition.

Work crews will be in the area starting August 7, 2025. A “Smoke Test” will assist the inspection crews in locating breaks and defects in the sewer system. A special non-toxic smoke will be used in these tests with no effect on plant or animal life.

The smoke should not enter you home unless you have a defect in your home’s plumbing system or you have drain traps that have dried up.

It is Advisable for the homeowner to pour a gallon of water into any unused bathroom fixture and each floor drain prior to the testing date. If smoke does enter your home or business, there is a strong reason to assume that dangerous gasses are entering you home or business. The correction of any defects in the pipes and sewer lines on private property is the responsibility of the owner. The services of a professional plumber are advised.

Thank you for you cooperation
